There’s a project that’s just gotten funded through Kickstarter. It’s a book called Above the Game: A Guide to Getting Awesome With Women and it’s being written by a Redditor and pickup artist named Ken Hoinsky. Predictably, the book promises to help men meet and hook up with women.

The idea that deep down, women want to be raped is some bullshit we can thank Sigmund Freud for. But it’s time for it to go.

Now, I know that some of you dudes are gonna be like “Yeah but it might help me get laid!” Sorry, but that’s completely fucking irrelevant. The reason crimes like sexual assault are crimes is not because committing them doesn’t benefit anyone, it’s because we’ve decided that they either 1) hurt others or 2) hurt society or both. Claiming that it should be okay to sexually assault someone because then you might get laid is like saying that it’s okay to steal because then you’ll get free stuff. (The point isn’t that sexual assault is equivalent to theft, but rather that the reasoning is just as morally and intellectually bankrupt.)

And no, it’s not enough to say that it’s the woman’s “job” to just “keep saying no.” It is your job not to touch people without their consent. If you can’t do that, then you’ve failed to meet the minimum standards for being a decent human being. Sorry!

Of course, Hoinsky knows he’s being a creepy asshole. These guys always do. He’s been spamming a Jezebel writer about it, hoping to get written up on the blog because “I showed it to my brother’s Jezebel-addicted ex-girlfriend and she went on a 3 hour diatribe about it. Your readers will eat it up!”

Giving attention to a person like this makes me feel desperately in need of a shower, but it’s also pretty important to me that this project not get funded. Here’s where Kickstarter comes in. Every project funded through the site has to be approved first, and the site approved this one. However, Kickstarter’s guidelines prohibit “offensive material (hate speech, etc.).” As we have seen with Facebook, sometimes companies don’t seem to realize that sexual assault is offensive and advocating sexual assault of women is hate speech. So, it seems that Kickstarter has fucked up a little here.

Sign this petition to ask them not to release the funds for the project. Also, go to the project page, scroll all the way to the bottom, and click on the button that says “Report this project to Kickstarter.” You might literally prevent a few sexual assaults. And if not, you’ll at the very least send a message that this is 2013 and this shit isn’t okay anymore. Not that it ever was.

You know what’s truly sickening about this particular scene? This dress (before the mice gave it a makeover) originally belonged to her deceased mother. Cinderella hardly has any personal possessions due to the greed of her stepmother and stepsisters. So, I assume that this dress meant quite a lot to her as a reminder of a simpler and happier time in her life. It symbolizes a fresh start and a chance at a better life for her. It must have been traumatizing to see her dreams just destroyed, literally ripped from her, torn to shreds. Not to mention, they verbally abuse her calling her a “thief” and a “kitchen wench”. In the end when Cinderella is standing alone in rags, it’s animated so beautifully because you can feel this weight and this sense of hopelessness. Cinderella’s a girl who even said herself that no one could take away her dreams. But in this scene, you can see she’s giving up.

That’s why it is so important that Cinderella gets her happily ever after. Her Fairy Godmother is a symbol of faith and perseverance in hard times. After all, “Even miracles take a little time.”

This is exactly what all of those stupid fucks who think Cinderella “whined” or “did nothing to get her happy ending” need to read.

Also, this was probably one of the few things she owned that was her mothers. They literally destroyed a part of Cinderella because this dress was her mothers. You could tell the dress meant the world to Cinderella when you first saw it and after the mice updated it. She had to watch her step sisters destroy the dress while degrading her in the process. The fact she went and cried afterwards does not show that she is “whining” or “did nothing.” It shows a woman who took years of abuse and finally let all the anger and sadness out. The stepsisters destroying her dress was the straw that broke the camels back.

When I was a kid I had a lot of trouble watching certain scenes in movies:

-The sequence of “Hunchback of Notre Dame” where Quasi is unmasked.

-The wood sequence from “Snow White”

but the biggest, scariest scene of them all was this one. It terrified me as a child and I could. not. watch it.

I know it sounds insane, but It’s hard for me to look at these gifs, even now.

I was jokingly thinking it was the future costume designer in me who was upset, but reading this post I realize all the information I internalized as a kid without even realizing it… Bravo Disney.

In regards to the “didn’t earn it” comments, I think there are people who see the Classic Princesses as much more passive. However, they tend to discount the emotional toll these characters paid as a sort of “typical female thing”. I think it’s important for young children to learn of a variety of experiences when growing up.

First of all, I want to start this off by saying that you are beautiful. This is not an attempt to pander or flatter you. You are beautiful. There is no amount of weight you could gain or lose that would change the fact that you. are. beautiful.

Diets work for about 5% of the population. 95% gain back all of the weight lost and 85% end up gaining more weight.

I’ve come to realize that, in my life, no amount of dieting is going to make me feel better about myself and my body… Because if my self-esteem is all tied up in an arbitrary number on a scale, then I’m just setting myself up for failure.

Is that to say you shouldn’t try a diet? Absolutely not. Your body, your rules. That being said, instead of a diet, here’s what I recommend:

1) Eat a variety of food, and pay attention to your bodies signals. It’s important to eat when you’re hungry. It’s also okay to indulge sometimes, too. Desiring food is not bad.

2) Move! Find the best way to exercise your body that is safe and enjoyable. This is the best way to stick to a movement regimen.

3) Realize that your body (and those of others) are beautiful. It’s incredible how freeing it can be to just stop judging people - especially yourself - by unrealistic standards and embracing the beauty of every body.

The basic idea is that loving your body has to come first. It can be really tough to re-train your brain in a world so fixated on one idea of beauty. I still have trouble with it sometimes, but for me the biggest change came from stopping myself from judging others. I find it way easier to be kind to myself when I’m kind about others’ bodies.

If you choose to lose weight, I wish you luck. Above all else, though, I wish you the strength to love your body no matter what.

I’ve seen so many Mother’s Day gif set. But I wanted to make a gifset dedicated to the girl who didn’t choose to become a mother, but had to. Nani. She was the best mother she could be to Lilo, and the best sister too.
She didn’t just lose her mother and father, with all the things she was doing wrong, she felt like she was losing her sister too.

Nani, hardly gets recognition, and throughout the entire film she did everything she could and it seemed like the odds were against her. So, appreciation for Nani, as she’s one of the strongest, most realistic & realistic looking Disney character ever.
